Before booking a flight

is it safe to fly with dinflytur.no?

It is about as safe as driving a car. General aviators are subject to less strict requirements than commercial pilots and airlines, but we never compromise on safety.

What to think about before booking a flight

General aviation aircraft are more prone to weather conditions, and it might be wise to avoid booking a flight if you are prone to flight anxiety ('aerophobia'), air sickness, mental health issues or other factors that makes you particularly vulnerable to fright or fear in abnormal situations where you experience lack of control and must assume trust in others.

How do I book, or request for more information?

Press the blue booking button - we reply as quickly as we can! Bookings are not irrevocable, but rather an indication of interest.

Why does dinflytur.no offer such experiences without making profits on it?

Flying as a hobby is much more enjoyable when shared with others, and bringing others along offers much more fun and delight. Cost-sharing is also a way for the pilot to accumulate more flight hours than what would be possible when having to finance it all oneself.

How much is a flight?

It depends on the flight and number of passengers. Since we cost-share, the pilot covers 30% of the costs while the passenger(s) cover the remaining 70%.

‍

In monetary terms the cost is NOK 2,500,- per hour of flight time (including 10 minutes of taxiing). The cost does not change as a function of number of passengers.

Examples of cost: A local sightseeing flight over Oslo for 45 minutes cost NOK 750,- per person when carrying two passengers, whilst a longer trip with navigation, touch and go training etc. may cost NOK 2,000,- per person when carrying two passengers.

Before take-off

How many passengers can tag along?

The pilot may bring three passengers in the aircraft, but for trips of 45 minutes or longer we recommend two passengers or less due to weight limitations.

When can we go flying?

Anytime really! Seasonal conditions will affect the nature of the flight however: In the winter, a flight is more comfortable due to calmer air and better conditions when the weather permits flying. That said, winter seasons tend to have prolonger periods of weather that we cannot fly in. Summer season tends to offer longer periods of flying conditions, but with more thermals and turbulence that makes the flight feel a bit more bumpy (yet as safe as always!).

We do not offer flights during night hours, so-called VFR night. Such flights require additional flying privileges, and they also pose elevated safety risk which we avoid at all costs.

What clothing shall I wear, or bring?

We recommend outdoor clothing and comfortable shoes. Our aircrafts have AC and heating, but in the event of having to ake an emergency landing, we want to strive for safety of life and health, which is hard to do if you come flying in the winter wearing light trousers and no winter coat. High heels, flip-flops and skirts makes for a terrible forest hike if having to land in remote locations with hours of walking until we reach civilization.

Is there an age limitation for booking flights with dinflytur.no?

No. That said, if you are under the age of 18 years and do not bring along a parent, we require your parent to sign a consent form before the flight.

When airborne

Are there any lavatories onboard?

No. You can make use of lavatory facilities at the airport anytime before take-off and after landing.

Can I fly the airplane?

Unfortunately we are not light instructors and can thus not let others fly the airplane. If you want to try this or want to figure out if you should pursue a pilot licence, we highly recommend for you to visit a local flight club and book a discovery trip with a certified flight instructor. We recommend Nedre Romerike Flyklubb.

What if I get scared or experience air sickness?

We always bring air sickness bags on our flights for you to use if necessary. If you get scared when airborne, we will do our best to talk you through everything going on so that you understand perfectly well what is happening at any stage of the flight, and we never hesitate to abort the flight and return to the airport if you wish to do so.

Most importantly: Come along for a flight, get comfortable and enjoy the view! It is so much fun, and you will never forget the experience!
